Description
Fogo peacock Bass aka Cichla marinae is one of the most desired peacock bass in the world. Originally from one in river in a remote part of Brazil, it is very hard to reach and transport the fish. For this reason, it is not found in the hobby very often.
Cichla mirianae is distinguished by three narrow vertical bars and numerous ocellated spots scattered along body sides. As the age, the gill plate, throat and belly develop an intense "fire" red coloration thus the name "fogo" meaning fire in Portuguese.
When juveniles, the Fogo peacock bass they have yellow bodies with a single black stripe horizontally along their body.
