Description
The African Blue Diamond Tetra, or Alestopetersius smykalai, is a small yet striking freshwater fish found in central Africa. Its slender form has contrasting blue-toned dark and light spots, with long and elegant fins which enhance its look. Growing to be about 2.5-3" long, they are a peaceful and social species that benefits from schooling behavior. It is recommended to buy a minimum of 8 individuals to help with encouraging these natural behaviors.
In the optimal conditions, these tetras can live to be 5-8 years old in captivity, and can likely be suited with other community-based schooling fish, such as other tetras, cory cats, as well as guppies.
