Description
The African aleste longfin tetra, or Brycinus longipinnis, is a stunning freshwater fish found in rivers and lakes of Central Africa. They are characterized as fish with silver to golden streamlined bodies, with long, flowing, almost translucent fins. As a peaceful and extremely social schooling fish, these tetras thrive in groups of at least 6-8 individuals which promote their natural behaviors. They grow to be about 3-4" long, and can live up to 8 years in captivity in optimal conditions.
These tetras are great companions in a community fish tank. In the right conditions, they can be kept with other tetras, guppies, and cory cats.
