Description

This a scaleless fish with a cartilage skeleton, a very large mouth and a long, paddle shaped rostrum. They are considered filter feeders and such, paddlefish feed by straining zooplankton from the water column as they swim. Paddlefish have a gray, shark-like body with a deeply forked tail, and a long, flat blade-like snout (looks like a kitchen spatula) almost one third of its body's entire length. It opens its huge mouth when feeding. Paddlefish resemble sharks not only by shape, but by their skeletons as well. Both paddlefish and sharks have skeletons made of cartilage, not bone. Paddlefish have no scales. Their gill cover is long and comes to a point, and they have tiny eyes.

***Important to know***

To acclimate them you will need a round tank or pond with lots of oxygen. Paddlefish are like sharks, they need to keep swimming to be able to get oxygen through their gills. If Put them in a small fish tank to acclimate they will keep hitting the glass and most likely the fish will just die. Once your paddlefish is acclimated after shipping and doing well you can transfer him into your fish tank but remember this fish get big and will need to be in a large pond system.
